Since 2004, Rich has sought to leverage his time, energy and resources in support of a variety of nonprofit and for-profit social impact organizations and initiatives both locally and in East Africa. Through a combination of advisory work, board service, direct investing and advocacy, he has played an important role in the growth of a number of social ventures as well as larger “sector” initiatives. He is the co-founder and board chair of Impact Hub Boulder, and currently serves on the following governing/advisory boards: Social Enterprise Initiative at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago; Impact Charitable; Unreasonable Institute East Africa; Thrive; Blood:Water.org. In addition, Rich was recently named to the Denver Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Impact Investing”. Rich began his private sector career at Tandy Corporation in 1986 and then left to join Dell Computer Corporation where he held a variety of senior management and executive positions in sales, marketing and business development over an 11-year period. After leaving, Dell in 2000, Rich moved to Boulder where he founded, and served as CEO of Outdoor Intelligence, a digital mapping company serving the outdoor recreational industry. Rich has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
