Humans of Impact Hub: Andrew Newman

By Kimberly Preston

Andrew is the creator of The Conscious Bedtime Story Club, a collection of bedtime stories that help children grow with a better understanding of the world and help parents connect with their children in the last 20 minutes of the day.

“I breathe for me. I breathe for you. I breathe for us, and I breathe for all that surrounds us.” This breathing meditation (a.k.a. snuggle breathing) begins each book, and allows children and parents to practice mindfulness and connect more deeply.

Andrew moved to the United States just 18 months ago, and has enjoyed plenty of excitement here so far. He recently won a competition for his talk, “Children Are The Future of Wellbeing”, and was selected to be the opening speaker for Deepak Chopra at the Oregon Convention Center. He also has a Kickstarter campaign launching soon for a new book called “The Hug Who Got Stuck”.

He’s been working at Impact Hub Boulder for about a year now and says he’s enjoying Boulder’s regular blue skies and sunshine after living in Scotland for seven years. While living in Scotland, he was Director of the Festival of Spirituality and Peace and has a background in care and support work.

His advice for you?

“Pay attention to the relationship between task-centeredness and person-centeredness, and choose where you want to be on that spectrum – In any one meeting, keep choosing.”
