The founders and board of Impact Hub Boulder are grateful for the powerful support of a diverse group of members in choosing our new Managing Director. This groups continues to inspire us with valuable observations, impactful initiatives and hard work.
This week, Shannon Sunderland agreed to take the post of Managing Director at Impact Hub Boulder. Shannon has been a creative business owner in Boulder for the past decade, after she supported over 4,000 members at the Outdoor Industry Association. We’re excited to find someone with her experience and business savvy to serve Impact Hub Boulder in 2015 and beyond. She begins immediately, and is already getting herself oriented at Hub. Drop by to help her settle in December, as she gets to understand our community. One of her first initiatives will focus on getting to know you all. We’re planning a 2015 strategy session in early 2015, and will report back with more specific updates then.
Outgoing Managing Director Greg Berry is assuming a new role as Entrepreneur In Residence, and will focus on supporting members’ endeavors, continuing to evolve Hub’s events and programming, and represent Hub in strategic partnerships in Colorado and throughout the global Impact Hub network.
We’ve been anticipating this transition since we planned the business over three years ago, and, for us as founders and business partners, it represents a significant milestone. The funny thing about plans is that they never go exactly as you think…
We’re also elated to announce that the inimitable Hannah Davis, who has held several core-team roles for us since before we opened our doors, has accepted a role as a general ass-kicker at MergeLane. Hubber Sue Heilbronner and Hub Founding Member Elizabeth Kraus have created this new incubator, focused on supporting women-owned businesses. It’s the perfect way for Hannah to continue growing her promising career, and although the timing is unintentional, we’re sure it’s the right thing for everyone.
Hosts Lindsey Brown and Tim Smisek, who have been integral to our hiring process, are getting to know Shannon, and are looking forward to continuing to serve the Impact Hub Community in 2015. Peter Begley, our former Operations Director, stays on in his critical role as CFO.
Clearly, it’s another evolutionary step in our business. Like the dozens of organizations that have grown during their tenure at Hub, we ourselves are growing up and becoming a more mature business. What won’t change is our commitment to your success and impact in our community, our state, and around the world. One of the many reasons we chose Shannon from the amazing pool of candidates is her natural understanding of how to work with a community, and to remain committed to our values of working with all of the stakeholders to constantly improve our quality and value, in service to your success.
Please join us at the Holiday Bazaar and Second Anniversary on 12/12/14 – two years after the infamous 12/12/12 – for a fresh and extraordinary gathering of unique characters. From 5pm to 8pm, we’ll open our doors for our second Holiday Bazaar, featuring more than 25 organizations selling unique gifts and representing fascinating projects and initiatives. We’ll have great food, drink and live music, and celebrate this milestone with you. It’s a great chance to congratulate Hannah, Shannon, and Greg. Our founders and board are looking forward to connect with you, and are eager to learn how we can continue evolving our service, and business, in 2015. We really appreciate when you RSVP, so we can plan appropriately. (Also, it feels good when we see your name on the list. : )
